Donate your company's laptops
Most companies refresh laptops every three years. The old ones sit in a cupboard, then go to recycling. Meanwhile 7 schools are waiting for 179 laptops. We connect the two.
How it works
-
Tell us what you have
Fill in the short form below: roughly how many laptops, what kind, and which region you're in. Even one or two help.
-
Wipe them
Reset each laptop and remove your accounts. They need to be working; we can't take broken laptops. Wiping guide.
-
We pick them up
We get in touch to arrange pickup, normally from your office, and drop the laptops straight to a school that's asked for them.
What happens after you get in touch
- We reply to confirm and ask any questions about the laptops.
- You wipe the laptops and make sure each one works.
- We arrange a pickup time that suits you.
- We drop them at a school and add you to our donor wall.

Why companies donate
It's easy
Tell us, wipe them, and we normally arrange pickup. No fees, no paperwork, no couriers to book.
Your data stays yours
Your IT team wipes the laptops before they leave, so you stay in control the whole time.
Straight to a named school
Laptops go to a specific school with a specific need, not to a reseller or recycler.
You're recognised
We list you on our donor wall, and you can show the donor badge on your site.
Better than e-waste
Reuse beats recycling. A three-year-old business laptop has years of school life left.
Any brand, most specs
High-spec laptops go to design and tech students; older ones become Chromebooks. What we accept.

Common questions
What do we need to do?
Tell us roughly how many laptops you have, wipe them, and make sure they're working. We normally arrange pickup and drop them off at a school that has asked for them. That's it.
What about our data?
You wipe the laptops before they leave your office, so your IT team stays in control the whole time. Our preparation guide covers resetting Windows, macOS and Chromebooks.
What laptops do you take?
Working laptops of any brand, ideally reset with their original operating system and with chargers. Higher-spec laptops go to secondary schools for design, photography, art and technology. Lower-spec laptops suit primary and junior classes, often converted to Chromebooks with ChromeOS Flex. See what we accept.
Can you take broken laptops?
No, sorry. We only take working laptops. Neither we nor the schools are set up to repair them.
What if we don't have laptops available yet?
Get in touch anyway. We understand it may be weeks or months before your next refresh. All we ask is that when you do refresh, the laptops you no longer need go to a school.
Do we need lots of laptops?
No. Generally 20–30 extra laptops make a huge difference to a school with a bring-your-own-device policy, but that doesn't have to come from one company. Even one or two laptops change things for the students who get them.
Why do companies have laptops to give away?
Most companies refresh staff laptops about every three years. By then they're fully depreciated and have no book value. They often sit in a cupboard "just in case" for a couple of years before being sent for recycling, when they could have been in a classroom.
What about desktops, 3D printers and other equipment?
Great. Let us know and we'll try to find a school that would gratefully accept them.
Can we support one school on an ongoing basis?
Absolutely. If your company wants a long-term relationship with a single school, that's great. Let us know if you'd like an introduction.
Can we donate money to The Laptop Drop?
We're not a registered charity and we don't accept monetary donations. If you don't have laptops but want to help, some donated laptops arrive without chargers. We can point you to the charger needed and the school to send it to. Some schools also need software, and we're happy to introduce you; they can issue donation receipts. Otherwise, consider donating to KidsCan.
How is The Laptop Drop funded?
The website and fixed costs are funded by the team at ResolvePay.
Can I volunteer to help?
The Laptop Drop is a streamlined operation that doesn't need many volunteers. The best way to help is to send companies with spare laptops, or schools that need them, our way.
