The need
Waitakere College has a BYOD policy, but many junior and senior students in technical and creative courses need a relatively powerful device to run the software supplied, specifically Adobe software. Some students have difficulty arranging this, which can limit their subject choices and their success.
The laptops are used across the Visual Arts department, especially Photography and Design. The school’s data shows that NCEA achievement in senior Visual Arts improves markedly with better digital literacy in the earlier years.
