The need
Whangārei Boys’ High School is BYOD, and of around 1,450 boys, about 100 don’t have laptops. Students need to access Writer’s Toolbox, Google Classroom and the NZQA assessment platforms. Most are fine with relatively low-spec laptops; some technical courses need slightly higher specs.
As one teacher put it: “I would hate for students to be making their subject selection based on what their parents can afford.”
