About this project
2026 sees the completion of Glenfield College’s BYOD rollout: all year groups now use Chromebooks. A basic Chromebook covers general use, but some departments, such as Art and Design, need higher-spec devices for graphic design software.
The school has doubled its roll over the last five years, so its computer rooms are fully timetabled. Given the socio-economic area and the cost of living, the school lends out around 40–60 devices a year to students who can’t afford their own. Its current stock dates from the COVID lockdowns and is ageing badly; the head of IT regularly dismantles devices for parts.
The school is looking for any laptop that can be converted into a Chromebook and lent to students.
